Abled and Disabled

I look at the Paralympics in awe and admiration. I have never been so touched when seeing one athlete win a gold (other than those times the schoolteam I was in won gold and we cried) until lately when our Paralympic athletes won. It was not about them winning gold, silver, bronze. It was the scene that they fought so hard with whatever they have to win. Their fighting spirit is so strong that puts many of us to shame.

And our local athletes to shame too. We have to import foreign talents for the Olympics. But our paralympic athletes - our very own true blue Singaporeans, are the ones who brought in the most golds for Singapore this season.

What an irony.
