This is not a Mercs, Peugeot, BMW or Audi. But I'd still like to share with you my maiden experience of being a car owner.
I've been thinking about getting a car, but wasn't sure if I'd be driving in the first place. I've been having a reliable chauffeur aka boyfriend for these years and getting a car was never really on my mind. I thought, well, if I do get one, then maybe, it will be a standby car, to replace taxi. Just as I was wondering should I be getting a luxury car as my first car since I won't be expecting to drive often, one sunny weekend, Sean and I popped by a PI where his friend is working. After I test-drive the car, he ordered one on the spot. I was still in a daze after that day, and couldn't believe I'm going to be committed to owning and maintaining a car.
She was suppose to arrive 2 weeks ago, but due to some delays which I choose to forget, I got a rental car instead. It was the beginning of learning how to handle a car, because just 2 days after I started driving, I was stuck in the middle of the carpark at our house because the engine just refused to start. The car just didn't move. And it was after calls and my dad and brother rushing down, that I realised it was simply because the engine was not engaged, and not because there was no battery.
On Chinese New Year eve, Sean went down to the PI to inspect and collect the car on my behalf while Karen drove me down to pick up the car myself. For awhile, I felt so lucky to have so many friends getting excited for me because they are happy that Val is finally learning to be more independent, and not because of my car. After all, she's a little humbly hatchback.
Over the CNY holidays, I drove a little after crossing lots of mind blocks. My dad had to insist that he takes my car instead to force me to drive. And I'm sorry folks, somehow I lost my aggression and drove like a Meh Meh Lamb.

As I'm starting to get the hang of it, with the help of my Ipod, I'm now less stressful while driving. I try to stick my wheels to the centre lane, because I do not want to be a victim of a tail-gater.
So friends, the next time you see a new Honda Fit New Facelift with an opened sky roof driving slowly, recklessly, whatever, please please... be patient with me.
Hee hee.
