Together Forever

I've been watching this program about elderly couples celebrating their wedding anniversary. And it makes me think about the relationships couples are in today, and how fragile they are compared to theirs.

Many of these elderly relationships started as strangers. They were usually match made, didn't know each other beforehand, and do not know if they would fit each other. But somehow, they managed to find their unique ways to match each other, never mind that they are not compatible in today's standards. They celebrated each anniversary with each other, and eventually with their descendants.

I always find most loving when I see old couples holding hands and caring for each other. Life is not a given, and to be able to grow old with the partner you've married for so long is the most beautiful thing on earth.
