A Visit to the (Beauty) Emporium

I was there.

And disappointed.

An emporium indeed - with cashier, entrance, mini trolleys and rows of 'items for sale'.

The concept is very refreshing but personally, I don't like it. It is just too open. Right next to the 4 sofas where you do nails, are rows of notebooks meant for sale, so imagine having people looking at the stationeries, and YOU.

At the entrance is the 'cashier' counter where they will issue you an electronic card to capture all your purchases (something like Marche). On the right, hidden from the public, is Spa Esprit where facial and other spa services are offered. Further down the aisle were products on sale, then a cafe, followed by Browhaus and finally Strip.

When I arrived, there were 2 rascals (primary schoolers) running around with 2 trolleys making hell of noise. I suppose they really thought they were in a supermarket. If it was the old House, this wouldn't have happened at all.

What made the entire ambience really bad was the ever different mix of genre played in also a mix of volume - sometimes loud, sometimes soft. I couldn't not even relax a wee bit throughout my 2 hours of service.

The saving grace was the excellent and attentive service of the nail technician, Sheen. Other than that, there's nothing so excellent about it.

The Spa Esprit Group is so gimmicky. It is catered to people with no taste as the products and services there rely so heavily on marketing. If a spa/ restaurant offers quality services and products then it does not need to cover them up with gimmicks.

Now that Anonymous says it, it seems quite true too... Not all the therapists are good.
