An Emotional Birthday

I watched the National Day Parade tonight.

I've not watched the NDP for the longest time because I wasn't really interested and I was, well, engaged with something 'more important'.

After all, the NDP comes every year right?

The feeling this time, watching it on TV, evoked a lot of emotions. I know the NDP is an essential tool to 'brain wash' citizens and make them love the country more. I know it is supposed to be 'emotional' so that you will be more open to receiving what is to be told to you.

I know.

I also know that it has some political agenda on why certain stuff are presented (or not).

But I'm still emotional.

Looking at how we've grown, bigger and mightier, I'm proud to be a Singaporean. I'm even more proud that despite having been despised by another country leader as "The Little Red Dot", Singapore makes its presence felt in different ways, around the world.

Some says Singaporeans are not closely knitted.

I doubt so. It's just that as we get too complacent with security and too engrossed in making money.

But when we get bullied (like the Little Red Dot incident) I am sure we will still unite.

Happy Birthday, Singapore!

Oh by the way, just like any birthdays, it should never be taken for granted that it will always come.
