The first time was when I visited its LV boutique (when there was no queue that is!). The feel upon entering felt like a mini version of its boutique at Champs Elysee.
The second time I was there was 2 days after its opening, and there was no luxurious feel at all, despite the several new brands and bigger stores. It could be because its shoppers are the same you see at Ngee Ann City or CK Tangs - their dressing is no where near the word 'style' or 'luxury'. Or that not all stores were opened so the feel wasn't really there. While I was impressed with its architectural designs on the outside, its interiors were totally disappointing.
How shall I describe it? It feels just a typical shopping mall - very similar to the Taipei101. It certainly does not feel St Honore.
PS: A friend said when she was there during its official opening on 21 Jul, she wasn't allowed to park in Ion Orchard because she wasn't 'celebrity' nor 'VVIP'. Its toilets are also segregated - 1 for the public, the other for the VVIPs (which are locked).
I find it amusing whenever I think about those locked SGD10K toilets meant for the VVIPs (and celebrities they say). I imagine them rushing and waiting for the doors to be unlocked, especially when they are URGENT.
Class & Luxury is not to be made. It is natural - just like style.
