There was this article about David Gan's comments about Addy Lee and trying to differentiate himself from him.
This didn't come as a surprise to me. Long before this article, when Addy Lee started to get more media attention, there were already reports on his comments about Addy Lee. And then there was this denial that he says he's originally from SINGAPORE (note that David Gan was a Malaysian, from Johor to be exact, until he got his Pink IC recently), and all about his encounters with Super Stars, flying here and there to do hair for this so-and-so, and also about him lending his expensives to A, B and C during those hot events. And not forgetting about his ravings about how successful he is to the world.
Yes, he did try to be humble by mentioning about how 'lowly' he was when he came to Singapore, and being thankful to his mentor. But among all things he said, it's on the ratio of say, 1:9.
They say it's the works of the media. But I say how they work up would also depend on their views of these two masters of the hair industry.
I'd rather behave like a businessman, collaborating with whoever is interested to build up the business networks, then to kowtow to the rich tai-tais and be at their mercy for their support. To me, this is dignity. And it's the mind of an intelligent person who thinks longterm for the growth and life of his business.
Personally, I do not have any preference for either, because I believe there are much better or equal hair gurus in Singapore who are much more humble in their own rights.
The more our 'Master' Gan comments about this saga, the more he displays insecurity. What he needs to work on is his insecurity, not spending time trying to push his competitor down and expecting people to respect him. Respect is earned, not made. At the age he is at now, it is really pathetic that he is still oblivious to this fact.
From a Psychological standpoint, all the expensives he is ever buying and showing off further proves the point of wanting to own, and being insecurity. It's always about him and this star, him and his buys and possessions, but never about him and his Malaysian family. So what you have everything in the world and is still empty and die empty. Wake up, 'Master' Gan.
