TWG

Was at TWG for dinner last night with my JC friends for a long overdue catch-up and tried their Egg Benedict.

This is what I thought (at first, that was!)

Wait Staff were not well trained. When I asked about the "English Muffin" stated on the description of the Egg Benedict ("Two English Muffin topped with Fresh Egg Benedict..."), they agreed with me that the English Muffin would be sweet. Despite so, I took the risk to have something with a mix of sweetness with eggs for dinner.

I was most surprised when I saw what was served.

They were certainly not English Muffins in my opinion. They were just 2 toasted bread.  The poached eggs' yolks were runny too - different from what I normally have - where the yolks are cooked.

Nonetheless, the dish was still good in my opinion as the toasts were great.

Ok, here's what I realised - I am the one with the mistake on understanding the dish, after doing a search online about Egg Benedict.

Yes, Egg Benedict is indeed served with English Muffin - and it is really the same toasted bread I had. So it is not the usual muffin one has impression of, which is sweet.

Secondly, the correct way to cook poached egg is to have it slide into simmering water to "boil" the egg till the white is cooked but yolk remains runny.

I'm right about the wait staff about their knowledge, but I'm certainly wrong about my knowledge of Egg Benedict.
