Ethical - Doctors?

Ethical is a very general word. Depending on how narrow your interpretation, someone who is ethical may not be ethical to another.

Just recently, I had a conversation with some friends about doctors, MCs and medicine. Apparently we realized something in common. Doctors these days are ready to give you medicine more than you really need. My recent trip to a doctor for sinus made me came back with a bag of prescribed drugs for phlegm and pain, besides the sinus tablets which I only needed.

And where I used to stay, there is one clinic which survived with minimal patients, one doctor and a clinic assistant for the past 20+ years. I recalled having to wait for at least 15 minutes before going in to his room seeing 2 computers, and him looking sleepy. With rental charges and other overheads, the non-crowd didn't seem to justify his ability to survive.

It was later that I realized he is a doctor who dispenses MCs (ok, and medicine as well) and charges really high for each visit - about SGD40 per trip with 2 or 3 drugs and an MC.

So are these doctors ethical? Up to you to decide.

Dishonesty is the only way to make more money. Like the RMs and insurance agents the doctors would stoop to anyhting if there is any money to make

They say money is the root of evil. The list does not stop here. It extends to unethical businessmen (eg, China's milk powder), to dishonest customers who lie to get back their money, even at the expense of the career of some innocent people...

Money.. Money.. Money...

There are doctors with heart for the patient or the heart for their own pocket. Unfortunately, more of the second kind.

Nonetheless, I hope your sinus is well now :-)

p.s: In my opinion, money is not the root of all evil, but "love of money" is the root of all evil (quoted from 1 Timothy 6:10). One can be a poor fellow and do much evil because of love of money.
