Apparently not all guests at the hotel are being quarantined. Some did not return to the hotel. The scary part now is whether these guests are now staying in another hotel, or located at further parts of Hong Kong. Imagine those who do not want to be inconvenienced by the quarantine and decide to stay in other hotels (not all keep their passports in the room!) for the time being so that they can continue to roam around in HK freely!
Most passengers who were on the same flight as the affected Mexican, whether it was from Mexico or Shanghai, were already contacted, with the exception of a Taiwanese tour group who returned from Mexico and were in transit from Shanghai to Taiwan.
China authorities have decided to stop all flights from Mexico with immediate effect. They are considering arranging a special flight to fetch back the Chinese Nationals who are returning from Mexico.
From this incident, it showed 2 things. At the country level, it's a competition of world image among the countries. China took fast actions to limit the risks. In contrast, Taiwan paled in comparison. Imagine till now non of the Taiwanese are contacted as compared to the majority of the passengers from all over the world who are already contacted and sent for check ups! While on a personal level basis, it is so important to be civic minded. I just wish the remaining guests can realise that and return to the hotel soon. Not returning does not mean they are safe. It actually increases their risk if they didn't go for check up on time.
