Memories

I still recall when I was working as a Medical Social Worker, I witnessed the warmth and cold of mankind.

I've seen a Garang Guni son-in-law who is not seeking financial aid, but to pay on instalments, to settle his mother-in-law's medical bills. She has succumbed to cancer. And his wife had passed on too.

I've also seen a relatively well-to-do old granny who shooed her maid away when she came to see me for financial assistance.

There was also a case I handled which, till now, still makes me wonder how well is the family coping.

A mother who was thrown to jail. Highly suicidal after she completed her term as she felt she was wronged. Her very young daughter displayed signs of behavioral disorder after she was in jail. But a very supportive husband.

The last time I saw her after I left the Medical Social Work industry was on TV - nothing bad though. She was just interviewed by the press for a general feedback.

I wonder how she is coping now. Her daughter should be in her teens now.

You remind me of "tissue paper" seller in singapore. I wonder how they'll survive with deteriorating economic condition, and apparently... with no help from the gov.
