The Gem of Life: The End

After many late nights, it's finally the end.

I've heard so many people talking about it that when my friends started to recommend me websites to watch, I got hooked.

This story line is very unique. It brings its viewers into the world of business, but at the same time, there is love, kinship and friendship all embedded into it.

It were the many twists and turns of events that got me hooked. I admit there were certain scenes in the show which were redundant, and boring, but in general, this show is successful in many ways.

At least for me, it offered me views into

(1) The harsh and competitive world of business (although I feel some of them are exaggerated, but I agree the infamous tag-line "There is no forever enemy in business".)

(2) The complexity of the super rich and famous: Their stress, complicated relationships and many fake concerns.

(3) True love of our parents: See how Mommy put in so much effort to ensure her daughters get the best for their own lives. We always complain so much about our moms being so 'k-poh', but as you look back, our moms do have the far-sight in many ways. However for this show, I feel that Mommy could be overboard in certain ways. Her complex thinking got me wonder if she would be better off as a businesswoman. Mommy was farsighted enough to see the impact of her illness and what would become of her daughters (my mom always say she reads me like a book) that she recorded what to say in the future to deal with her daughters.

(4) Kinship: Something which we often take it for granted. When we return to basics, all other issues no longer matter.

I particularly admire the youngest daughter Jessica for her endurance of stress. She might be scheming in the eyes of many, but from another perspective, she is the most intelligent of the 3 sisters. Of course, there were certain things she did which I didn't agree, like making use of Ah Wor.

The last episode was extremely touching. It showed the soft side of human beings. From the sacrifices Ah Wor made for Jessica, to the flashbacks of those memories of the 3 daughters from Mommy made me cry. It reminded me of my younger days with my own sister too. (Miu: remember those nights I often coerced you to brush my hair before you sleep? Or I took your birthday present to play. And those times we played-act Librarian, at the supermarkets or banks?)

So friends, it's a worthwhile series to follow. Watch it, think, and learn something from it.

It's a good drama with a lot of efforts put in. From the locations (Paris, Tibet, China) to the cast and the plot.

I say Fantastic!

Ya... those were the great childhood moments of our lives. Growing up is not a choice.. but I'm sure we can have our own fun ways as adults now!!!
