Christmas

I've never realised Orchard Road is closed for Christmas Day only this year. I'm not sure since when some organiser decides to block off Orchard Road on Christmas Day to have Christmas Floats, funfares and performances, but this year, we decided to join the crowd and have some fun!

A search online found that this event is organised by the Church community. The feeling is just like Chinese New Year at Chinatown - crowds, fun and food! I've always think Orchard Road should be permanently blocked to make it into a pedestrian walkway - like many of those shopping places in China where no cars are allowed. People can walk freely, small pushcarts can be rented out and street performers to set along the stretch of road to attract crowds. Underground walkways can be converted into more shops for rental income!

After all, it's a short stretch of road, and traffic diversion is not difficult, after all, there are several road entrances around the same stretch!

I think I should just write to URA for their consideration!!
