Back from Chiang Mai!

4 wonderful days in Chiang Mai.

The Chedi was where we stayed - nice small luxury resort, and we were the only Asian couple there. All other tourists were your usual Ang Mohs, some young, some old couples.

Chiang Mai is very different from Bangkok. The people here are very fair, and much prettier than those in Bangkok. Their culture is also very much affected by the Yunnan and Myanmar Culture.

Once we touched down, our personal tour guide brought us out for lunch in the most local way, at a Chinese stall selling pork knuckles and all else pork.

And thereafter to their highest Temple where we can see the entire city view of Chiang Mai.

We walked out to the Night Bazaar after returning, to check out what they really have : a tad disappointing, all stalls seem to be selling almost the same thing.

On day two, we woke up early for our Elephant Trip, with our tour guide.
It was our first time being up-closed-and personal with an elephant, let alone riding on it. It wasn't as comfortable as anyone thought, but we got used to it and the entire 40 minutes was enjoyable!

Never have I realised elephants are sooooo cute.

But of course, I wouldn't just settle for trekking and rides only! We came back with Sean heading to the pool while I enjoyed myself at their Spa.

Their service is superb. Although I can feel all of them have this standard script to follow when attending to their guests, I felt comfortable in their care with their professionalism.

I had this treatment for 7,000 Baht (equivalent S$280).

Aromatherapy Foot Scrub
Aromatherapy Massage

Silk Scrub

Milk & Honey Masque
Milk & Rose Petal Bath

After that, we walked out to the Bazaar again for dinner and explored further and came across this mall selling a full range of spa accessories (including those pots and cups used to serve you in spas) in widest variety, shops selling wide range of wood carvings (yes, we even saw the same one we bought from Dempsey, at half the price!). There were also several shops offering drawing service, and I must tell you, I couldn't believe it that it's all drawn.

And I saw the exact same 'Chocolate and Banana Roti' as those in Phuket!
Isn't the stall lady pretty!

Their deep-fried pork skin! It's just like London's Pork Scratches! Great with beer! *burp*
Day 3 was limited to only at The Chedi. Feeling bored, I went in to their boutique and bought this pretty silk dress (just don't ask me how much!)
And I accompanied Sean by the pool, served the net, and bitched together.

They served sorbet with cracker in a nice thermal pot to keep it cold. Not forgetting a nice face mist for each guest to cool ourselves down in!

And of course after the pool session, we went back to the Spa to enjoy session II.

Our guide brought us out for a special cultural dinner (aka TOURIST dinner) at 7pm. It was a great experience, where we tried all of their different popular dishes, all seated on the floor - the traditional way, with their several traditional dances.

Come the final day, we woke up for our nice breakfast, and headed back to Airport.

Good bye Chiang Mai, we'll come back again some day!
