Dempsey Hill

Dempsey Hill has been a hot place of late. I've been there before its development. There was no proper carpark lots (except the empty space outside lotto carpets), or just along the roads. The new Dempsey now has nicely marked parking lots, though small, with neat rows of shops on both sides. Pubs, restaurants, cafes, art gallery, art school, icecream parlour, childcare, etc... plus the usual old timers of wine bars, furniture shops.

On weekends, one can really see a nice variety of 'toy' cars of men: Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati. Friends gather at cafes for tit-a-tat sessions, parents with their kids and family friends gather at Ben & Jerry's.

However, what disappoints me was The House. Physical facet was disappointing, confusing, and totally unappealing. I checked out the place, looked at the map, and it's not the usual spa heaven one would expect in such a lush environment like Dempsey. Maybe there were constraints, or perhaps they wanted to be different. I'm not sure. As a spa fan, I'd like something akin to Spa Botannica.

I just hope it can offer wider variety of shops here, rather than just food and food and wine. Some shops selling unique imported stuff or displays on local designer fare would be great haunts for the shopaholics. What a wonderful world at Dempsey it would be if it marries those small shops from Club Street, etc, with Holland Village's variety of food and bodycare. It will be the Heaven of Singapore.

Why am I fighting so hard to improve Dempsey? Well, so that I can just walk over from home for my all-in-one fulfillment!
