So after lunch, I pulled Janine to see the jewelry store which I bought my first pair of jadeite earrings.
Trouble began from here.
We went to another store, and were most attracted by the designs and workmanship of the works.
I use works, because they are not just jewelries - I see them as pieces of nice artwork worn on the body.
I fell in love with this pair of very nice curvy 3/4 eternity claw-setting rings in a pair. It's extremely versatile to wear, whether it's by itself, or stacked up with other rings. However, having been paying quite a bit on jewelery pieces, we sort of knew the prices were just too above the market. After negotiation, they agreed at $1.8k for the pair, provided that Janine got her earrings too.
And so stepped out, empty handed.
One thing led to another.
Then it was to my usual Jeweler's the next day. I had long been postponing the idea to resetting my diamond pieces, so that day, I went there and got it done.
Looking at the hundreds of diamonds clustering together when Aunty Agnes poured them all out choosing, we somehow managed to only set my gold pearl, while still deciding on what to do with the rest as the diamonds are all odd sizes.
And on Sat was the visit to another Jeweler's whom Janine has been talking about at Far East Shopping Centre having nice affordable pieces with quite good workmanship.
And so we went there today.
I was full of doubts at first until I saw the shop - it's a very small shop (in fact shared with this alteration shop), and the business is one-man-show. He's the master setting the jewelery, and is also the boss of the shop.
And so we each bought our first ever rose quartz. Mine set in ring with brown diamonds in white gold (I almost got the rose gold one but don't think I'd ever wear it cos it's just so difficult to match), while Janine got hers set as earrings in 18K gold. All these at very affordable prices!
We can't wait to collect them next Saturday!
Ed: I've always thought I'm not an accessory person. Realised that I'm not quite one, but a jewelry person. An expensive hobby indeed! Maybe I'd want to seriously consider designing jewelries as a second option for my career!
